In 1986 Mondaine converted the clock's legendary face and bold hands into wristwatch form. This one-of-a-kind, easily readable watch has become one of the true design classics recognized the world over. The straightforward and unadorned shape of the case make this watch a true time icon.

Design art at its best and a true classic: developed by SBB for the station in 1944, put on the wrist by Mondaine in 1986 as the Official Swiss Railways Watch. Since then, this watch is not a status symbol, but a statement. The linear design is inspired by the Bauhaus and stands for clarity and sustainability. Quite simply: the Swiss original.

All Mondaine watches stand for Swiss quality and watchmaking tradition. They are handcrafted in our factory in Solothurn, Switzerland. Every watch is tested there for water resistance to 30 meters and is given an international guarantee of two years.

How does the durability of grape leather compare to the standard leather strap?
The grape leather happens to be more durable than our standard leather strap.

How did you test the durability of the grape leather straps?
We ran a study in an independent lab in Switzerland to test the grape straps against standard leather under different environmental conditions.

Is the grape leather hypoallergenic?
It is possible that a hyperallergic person might experience a rash due to PU material on the inside of the strap, Nevertheless, we tested the grape straps with a group of approx. 40 people and did not have any cases where an allergic reaction occurred.
